WHAT A WEEKEND! Friends, fun, remembering old stories and creating some new ones
Over 150 Alums, 4 Members of the Board of Trustees and several Professors and Staff (and Staff Alumnae) gathered for 2 days of festivities to remember and look forward. Thanks to your generosity - roughly $75,000 NET was raised to further fund scholarships in Ted & Doug's name !!
The weekend officially began with the dedication of the OWU Friends Memory Garden behind Slocum Hall. Tom Raymond warmly welcomed the crowd following a prayer by Sheila Plecha. Jeff Johnson, Lucy Cutting Probert and OWU President Mark Huddleston shared memories, reflections and insights for all to reflect upon.
The throng then marched up to the President's house where he and his wife graciously welcomed us into their home for a traditional barbecue with all the fixin's (i.e. BEER.)
Next - it was on to the "The Jug" for an evening of college era festivities. Big Ed has expanded his establishment which now sports a Beer Garden under tent to the benefit of both the fresh air fans and smokers.
After last call and a banner night for the Delaware Cab Company it was off to the Delaware Hotel a downscale version of a Motel 6 - that to its credit - has a lounge that stayed open for an extra hour and a half
Saturday began bright and early with a shotgun scramble golf tournament with more then a few participants a little worse for wear - but almost zero NO SHOWS!! Pretty amazing considering
A round robin tennis tournament run under the expert organizing skills of Debbie "humina humina" Rodgers Truesdale also had wide participation among those who returned to campus.

While fairly unscheduled - the afternoon was filled by visits to "The Hill" former dorm rooms and a few even ventured down to the old library annex known affectionately as "The Backstretch".
After a quick shower by some - it was off to the Gala Banquet pre-game cocktail party in the Benes Room of the new Hamilton Williams building. Liz Durant and her team had organized a fabulous Silent Auction with nearly a hundred items to bid on. (Vacation homes, a flight in the President's plane with Mark at the helm, Joe Lash's signed golf bag were just a few of the items available for purchase)
Meanwhile
several folks briefly departed to take part in another important on campus ceremony - celebrating 50 years of Men's Soccer at Ohio Wesleyan before the Varsity Soccer Team, under Coach Jay Martin, challenged arch rival DePauw University.
Following a wonderful banquet - and in between sets of local band MLC Project - our very own Rocco Donnino brought down the house with his classic version of Dixie Chicken !!
Sunday was met head on by a brunch in the now thoroughly cleaned and reformatted Benes Room and a last opportunity to exchange phone numbers and email addresses.
And by noon all were headed off to their respective homes - a little weary and blurry eyed - but the thrill of knowing it was a successful and fun time spent remembering days gone by and friends
OWU Friends !!
