Our Mission
Doug Cherry & Ted Luckett
On September 11, 2001, the lives of Doug Cherry and Ted Luckett were taken from their families and friends by an act of terrorism our nation will never forget. Our hearts will forever go out to their family members; our thoughts and prayers will be with them always.
During the respective memorial services for Doug and Ted, the main themes were family and friendship. We all realized, seeing friends we hadn't in almost 20 years, that life is too short not to get together more often.
In response to the outpouring of sentiment and ideas from OWU alumni "a shady group of characters/alumni" from Ohio Wesleyan University formed OWU FRIENDS FUND, INC.
Our Mission:
The Fund was originally developed to raise money to support the families of
Doug and Ted and other alumni affected by tragedy. At the request of the
Luckett and Cherry families, a majority of the proceeds in the Fund will be
used to create scholarships in each of Doug and Ted's names at Ohio Wesleyan
University. We are thrilled to contribute to this everlasting tribute to
Doug and Ted.
We plan to host at least one event a year, to honor Ted and Doug, and reunite with "old" friends to celebrate the lives of these two outstanding individuals.
All of us are part of a close- knit group of people that can "catch up" many years later...like it was yesterday...senior year...up on the hill...BS-ing over a keg... Ted and Doug would be right there with us...as OWU buddies...our friends. We want to celebrate their lives and the great times we had together at OWU and in turn, donate to a fund that will keep their memories alive forever.
